Notice of Public Hearing

Time: 10:30 a.m.

Venue: Hilton Hotel, Charlemont Place, Dublin 2

Purpose: Hearings in relation to St. Joseph's Industrial School, Dublin.

The Investigation Committee of the Commission to Inquire into Child Abuse currently proposes to hold a public hearing in relation to St. Joseph's Industrial School, Kilkenny, on Tuesday 1 November, 2005. However, this date/time is subject to last minute change - I will let you know as soon as I hear of any such change.

The hearing will commence at 10-30am on the 1st, in the Hilton Hotel, Dublin 2 ( Charlemont Place).

Sr. Una O'Neill of the Sisters of Charity, who are management respondents in relation to the school, will give general background information in relation to the school.

Transcripts from the public hearing will be posted to the Commission's website as soon as available.

Following the public hearing, the committee currently proposes to move into private session again , in the Commission's offices in St. Stephen's Green House. No transcripts of the private hearings will be made available.

Time: 10:30 a.m.

Venue: Alexander Hotel, Dublin 2

Purpose: Hearings in relation to Artane Industrial School, Dublin.

The Investigation Committee of the Commission to Inquire into Child Abuse currently proposes to hold a public hearing in relation to Artane Industrial School, Dublin, on Thursday and Friday, 15 and 16 September, 2005. However, this date/time is subject to last minute change - details will be posted to the website immediately should there be any change.

The hearing will commence at 10-30am on the 15th, in the Alexander Hotel, Dublin 2 (beside the Davenport Hotel).

The Christian Brothers, who are management respondents in relation to Artane school, will give general background information in relation to the school.

Transcripts from the public hearing will be posted to the Commission's website as soon as available.

Following the public hearing, the committee currently proposes to move into private session in respect of Artane from Monday 19 September , in the Commission's offices in St. Stephen's Green House. No transcripts of the private hearings will be made available.

The Investigation Committee of the Commission to Inquire into Child Abuse currently proposes to hold a public hearing in relation to St. Joseph's Industrial School, Letterfrack, Galway, on Thursday 16th June, 2005.  However, this date/time is subject to last minute change - Notification will be posted if any such change occurs.

The hearing will commence at 10-30am in the Alexander Hotel, Dublin 2 (beside the Davenport Hotel).

Br. David Gibson, Provincial Leader of the Christian Brothers Congregation (St. Mary's Province), who are management respondents in relation to St. Joseph's Industrial School, Letterfrack, will give general background information in relation to the school.

Transcripts from the public hearing will be posted to the Commission's website as soon as available.

Following the public hearing, the committee currently proposes to move into private session in respect of St. Joseph's from 17th June, in the Commission's offices in St. Stephen's Green House. No transcripts of the private hearings will be made available.

The hearing will commence at 10-30am in the Aston Suite, Alexander Hotel, Dublin 2 (beside the Davenport Hotel).

Fr. Michael Hughes of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate Order, who are management respondents in relation to St. Conleth's school, will give general background information in relation to the school.

Transcripts from the public hearing will be posted to the Commission's website as soon as available.

Following the public hearing, the committee currently proposes to move into private session in respect of St. Conleth's from Tuesday 10 May  , in the Commission's offices in St. Stephen's Green House. No transcripts of the private hearings will be made available.

However, this date/time is subject to last minute change - I will let you know as soon as I hear of any such change.

The hearing will commence at 10-30am in the Hilton Hotel, Charlemont Place, Dublin 2 (near the Portobello pub).

Sr. Helena O'Donoghue of the Sisters of Mercy, who are management respondents in relation to St. Vincent's school, will give general background information in relation to the school.

Transcripts from the public hearing will be posted to the Commission's website as soon as available.

Following the public hearing, the committee currently proposes to move into private session in respect of St. Vincent's from 18 March , in the Commission's offices in St. Stephen's Green House. No transcripts of the private hearings will be made available.
